Introduction to Virtual Classes-

The virtual classroom is an online teaching and learning environment where participants can interact, communicate, view, and discuss presentations and engage with learning resources while working in groups, all in an online setting. The medium is often through a video-conferencing application that allows multiple users to be connected at the same time via the internet. To simply put, a virtual classroom is avirtual learning environment.

What is the reason behind online learning?

As we are all aware that the rise of covid-19 has lead to the shutdown of  all the public places and as such, all the work is being done virtually too. Education as such has not been left untouched by this change. Not just in India but e-learning is being adopted worldwide, where teaching and learning is digitally done.

In our school, virtual classes are done with the application known as Zoom. Bare there are so many other apps like Google Meet, Google duo etc. which can also be used for the same.

How does it work?

In group video conferences, the host {Teacher} starts the meeting and all the participants can join the meeting with the given meeting ID and password. In our school, this meeting lasts for 40 minutes. There are a lot of other specialised functions like screen recording and screen sharing. Zoom can also run in a browser. The participant can join the meeting by typingthe given meeting ID and password or by directly clicking on the link given by the mentors for their respective subjects. The host lets the participantin, and attend their meeting.

Advantages and Disadvantages of online learning-

Advantages-

1. If student is dealing with any problem, he/she can easily reach out to the teacher by mailing them.

2. All the work is being uploaded by the teachers in Google classroom, so students have access to the given material at any time.

3. Not only does online learning allow the parents to get more involved in their ward's learning experience, but they also get to monitortheir children better and ane how much attention they are paying to their studies.

Disadvantages-

1. Students attend classes as per their will and sometimes leave their classes for unnecessary reasons.

2.Online learning poses a great difficulty in the fair evaluation of student's work. Chances of using unfair means to answer in the examination are also high in onlinelearning.

3. Not all the students have the facility of internet connection and other resources for online classes.

Conclusion-

Although, Online / Virtual Class has been a useful and convenient tool in these trying times, yet it is quite clear that nothing can replace the offline classes.
